Mason Jar Lids - Surgical Stainless Steel, Wide Mouth, Stackable with Silicone Seal

As a passionate vegan environmentalist, I, Lena, the CEO of Eco Peaceful, LLC, firmly believe that manufacturers should be responsible for producing quality products that last a very long time and packaging them in an eco-friendly manner, allowing wild animals to live their lives in their natural environment. After watching Plastic Planet and other documentaries, I was shocked by the detrimental impact of plastic on animals and humans, which prompted me to make changes in my lifestyle. In 2012, I started my EcoPeaceful zero-waste business to manufacture organic, natural, and non-toxic products that are packaged in the most eco-friendly way possible, without the use of plastic.

One important aspect of my daily life is the use of mason jars for homemade food and drinks, such as tea, coffee, and smoothies. However, I have always been concerned about the common canning metal lids, which have a PVC/vinyl coating with a plastisol/PVC seal gasket. This has bothered me because the liquid in the jar vaporizes and drops back down into my drink or food. My concern heightened when I noticed that the vinyl coating was flaking off just from putting vinegar in a glass jar, without even directly contacting the coated metal lid. This prompted me to search for alternative lid solutions.

Plastic caps and lids are also not a good option, as they degrade and shed microplastics, releasing toxic chemicals. While some may claim to be BPA-free, they often contain other harmful chemicals as replacements. Furthermore, plastic lids are breakable and heat-sensitive, making it difficult to properly sanitize them by boiling. Most importantly, plastic lids pollute the environment and harm or kill wildlife.

Inspired to find a better solution, I opted for stainless steel lids with a silicone gasket. These lids not only give me peace of mind, but they are also built to last "forever," eliminating the need to constantly discard and replace metal or plastic lids, which is a more wasteful approach.

My decision to start EcoPeaceful and my preference for stainless steel lids with silicone gaskets reflect my commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices. I strongly believe that manufacturers should be held accountable for producing high-quality, long-lasting products that are packaged in a way that respects the natural environment and protects wildlife. By making informed choices and supporting businesses that share these values, we can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
